Carbon Filters

Ensuring the most efficient ventilation system for a grow room promotes optimum growth and secures a more bountiful yield. You can also keep your home safer and fresher if you add a carbon filter to your grow room ventilation system. Choosing the right product can be daunting, especially for hydroponics UK beginners. You can always rely on Eden Horticulture hydroponics wholesale to give you only the best carbon filters.

Why Grow Room Needs an Air Filter

Filters trap molecules, compounds, or objects larger than their pores. These substances cannot pass through the holes, ensuring you have clean and fresh-smelling air.
If you put a filter in your extraction fan, you prevent bugs, dust, and other particles from entering your grow room. It helps safeguard your plants against disease and other abnormalities.
Plants also release volatile organic compounds as a by-product of photosynthesis. These VOCs can interact with other chemicals in the air, leading to the development of an uncanny smell.
Carbon filters trap these odour-causing particulates so that the air you breathe will be as fresh as possible.

What Type of Filter Do You Need?

Grow room ventilation system air filters can come in several types. Learning more about these filter types can help you decide which product to install in your grow room ventilation system.

HEPA Filters

High-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters have super-fine mesh filters that trap harmful airborne contaminants, including allergens. If you have allergies or someone in your family, a HEPA filter is an excellent choice. The only downside to this product is that it is more expensive than other air filter types.

Carbon Filters

Most grow rooms today use carbon filters. These products work like HEPA filters, except that they cannot remove microscopic particles smaller than 0.5 microns.
Some carbon filters have a pore size of up to 0.05 microns. However, they are more expensive than standard carbon filters. Ideally, you will want a carbon filter with at a least 5-micron pore size.
Activated carbon has absorbent properties. It is porous, allowing particles smaller than its pore diameter to pass through. Large-diameter particles remain in the filter, keeping your air free from such particulates.
Carbon filters are excellent for removing odour molecules from plant-derived volatile organic compounds. Your grow room will not have that stink, allowing you to work on your plants without getting nauseous.
Ideally, you should place your carbon filter right where your ducting begins. It is the preferred setup for indoor growers who use HPS or metal halide grow lights.
We recommend Vortex Premium Carbon Filters and Mammoth Carbon Filters for your grow room ventilation requirements.

Air Box Intake Filters

If you want to bring only the freshest and cleanest air into your grow room, you might want to try an air box intake filter. It traps airborne particles before they reach your grow room.

Bug Dust Intake Filters

While not filters in the strictest sense, you might also need a bug and dust intake screen. It is similar to an air box intake filter, except that it has larger holes. Its main purpose is to prevent insects and dust particles from entering your grow room.
An effective grow room ventilation system not only ensures optimum carbon dioxide levels for your plants. The systems carbon filters can also safeguard the air you breathe, making it smelling nice as you work in your grow room. You can also install other air filter products, depending on your needs.
At Eden Horticulture hydroponics distribution, you can trust us to provide you with only the best carbon filters for your modern grow room.
